What is a Nutritional Therapist?

Nutritional therapists will assess your overall health and make recommendations for dietary and lifestyle changes that alleviate or prevent ailments

Why bother?

As we age our health and hormonal levels change too. A nutritional therapist will create an individual nutrition plan to address, often providing meal planners, shopping list and food diaries with the aim to optimise your nutritional health

What do I need to know?

Their starting point is that the body has underlying nutritional and biochemical imbalances that lead to poor health (including poor mental health). They need to make a full assessment of your health and should create you a personalised plan that can integrate into your current lifestyle

The bottom line

Know your terms. Anyone can call themselves a Nutritionist or a Nutritional Therapist. Any Nutritional Therapist worth their salt should self-regulate through the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)
Only Nutritionist who register with the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN) can call themselves a Registered Nutritionist.
