Get away from it all
Give yourself the gift of space and time to focus on self-care

Â
What is a Retreat?
There are loads of different retreats available in the UK and abroad, but as the name suggests most of them will offer you a chance to get away from it all, and practise some self care. They usually have some kind of ‘theme’ (mediation, detoxing, learning a new skill) and can vary in length from an overnight to a week long stay.
Â
Why bother?
Being away from home and your regular routine can be a great way of getting a fresh perspective on existing problems or a good way to start building new habits. Retreats should allow you time to reflect, and the space to learn or practise a new skill, to step out of your structured day-to-day and be inspired.
Â
What do I need to know?
Look at the focus of the retreat and the schedule on offer. If you want total relaxation a schedule with every hour planned out in advance probably isn’t for you. Look for retreats with a balance of ‘time out’ and schedule sessions, so that you can come away reenergised, having relaxed, having learnt something new.
Â
The bottom line
If you can’t persuade a friend to come with you, don’t let that put you off. Many people go ‘solo’ to retreats. Making new friends and connections always seems easier though a shared experience. It all about finding a space where you can re-connect with yourself again.
Courses and Events, also offer a great way to finding a fresh perspective.
